I got to the hospital around 9 this morning, waited over an hour to get a cannula in.. But that's because my veins are pathetic and needed some encouragement from some heat packs on my arms. There is one nurse there that knows me, and how my veins are and does a really good job of getting the cannula in within 1-2 go's. Today she got it in first go! We were both over the moon haha. She used a yellow pediatric cannula today. I think they are the way to go for me :)
By 10.30 my infusion started. There isn't a whole lot to do while getting this drug infused as it takes about 4 hours. So i brought the book I'm ready at the moment (My Place, By Sally Morgan) and also my iPad. After reading my book for for about 20 minutes i start to get sleepy. So i actually slept for 3 and a half hours haha.
Sleeping is kind of annoying while getting the infusions though. I'm interrupted every half hour for a set of OBS (blood pressure, temperature and heart rate) and also the worst part is I'm actually in a chair not a bed. It was super cold today so i asked for a couple of blankets and slept away!
After my infusions i like to treat myself to some macarons at the markets down the road. Macarons are like the most amazing food I've ever eaten NO JOKE! and seeing as i live over an hour away from my hospital i like to consider them my treat for whenever i have something on at the hospital, whether its a procedure or infusion or check up :)All in all a productive and smooth running day :)
