My name is Dannielle, at the moment I'm 21 years of age and I have Crohn's Disease and Perianal Disease. I was diagnosed when I was 8 years old for Crohn's at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth, Western Australia, Then some years later i was diagnosed with Perianal (I'm pretty sure this was in Melbourne) For as long as I remember I've had Crohn's (which is rare) and at the age of 18 months old i was believed to have Kawasaki Disease. Kawasaki is an autoimmune disease in which the medium-sized blood vessels throughout the body become inflamed. It's pretty common for the kids under the age of 5. But later in life my doctors realised Kawasaki is just an oral version of Crohn's. I remember my dad telling me the left side of my body just puffed up with a balloon and was so red! I'm on two medications at the moment and they are Infliximab or known overseas as Remicade (IV infusions, every 8 weeks) and 150mg of Azathioprine (Imuran) that i take daily. My Crohn's isn't in remission at the moment which is a massive bummer because it usually is, but my doctors and i are working on changing that! Right now i live in Perth, Australia with my Dad's Tayler & Ross. I'm a fully qualified makeup artist, and now working part time in Retail. Crohn's doesn't limit me with anything i want do but it certainly increases the amount of time i go to the toilet everyday! haha ;)
