there are many ways to treat Crohn's Disease it just all depends on the severity of the active disease. Me, I'm on Azerthyperine (Imuran) which is a 50mg tablet that is super easy to swallow and i have to take 3 of those daily. they work with my other drug Infliximab or as people overseas know it, Remicade.

Infliximab is used to treat autoimmune diseases which is what Crohn's is. It is a liquid drug administered by IV usually every 6-8 weeks. I get mine infused every 8 weeks. It's used to induce and maintain the remission of Crohn's. its dosage is based on your weight (not sure of the ratio though) Infliximab shuts down a part of your immune system to help fight the inflammation you have. So for example, when i get a cold or virus, it will take me twice as long to get better, unlike a normal person. And being on this medicine makes it harder for me to have surgeries and things to correct things because there is always a higher risk of infection and my body wouldn't be able to fight it off.
unfortunate for me my veins are pathetic and little. so getting a cannula put in my arm every 8 weeks is somewhat of a challenge. its rare that the nurses at the hospital will get it first try. Usually i have to have the pediatric needles as well which is yellow and in the picture up there.
I arrive to the hospital in the morning around 9 and i sit there and wait for the nurses to put a cannula in my arm and then the infusion takes about 3 hours to administer. i usually take my Ipad and watch some shows or sleep haha. i don't have side effects to this drug which is another plus. some people can have chest pains and sore arms, things like that.
any other questions or anything just ask :)
